Hey Lewis, Who is Your Clark?

Chapter 5 of “Canoeing The Mountains” (by Tod Bolsinger) is all about friendship.

When you think of leading “off the map” you think of many things required. You think of skill, courage and endurance - but do you think of friendship?

Over the past month, the Mission Staff and I have been reading “Canoeing the Mountains”. What a timely read.

Chapter 5 underscores how many things are required for leading “off the map”, with friendship being at the top of the list.

Bolsinger writes:

“This partnership forged out of friendship and Meriwether Lewis’s keeping of his word to Clark created the context for building much more than a military unit—the very Corps of Discovery.”

So many turn around and go home because they do not have someone on the journey with them. Moses had Aaron. Joshua had Caleb. Lewis had Clark.

As the African proverb says:

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” - African Proverb
