Everyone Name One
Jesus went to the OTHER SIDE. Love demands such a thing. Love is not static, it is fluid...always moving out to include more. As Bob Goff says: “LOVE DOES”.
Over the past few Wednesdays we’ve been looking at a story from Mark chapter 5 that redefined the boundaries of where God could go and would go. Jesus went to the other side and there found a man by the name of Legion. It wasn’t that he was named Legion, it was that his name represented the demonic oppression this man was under.
I won’t go into Demonology here but let’s just say, dude was jacked up. There was NO HOPE until a new king and new kingdom rose declaring HOPE FOR EVERYONE.
Jesus did what no one could do. Jesus does what no one CAN do.
The man was gloriously delivered. It was great news for him but bad news for the pigs. I digress…
Here’s why I bring this up...this summer I want everyone to name one.
Name one friend that has no hope. Name one friend that is lost and hurting. Name one friend people have given up on. Name one friend who’s turn around story is totally dependent upon God showing up.
Everyone name one.
Here’s what I think...God has allowed all that we’re experiencing to reach people that would not have been reached otherwise. I believe there are many who WOULD NOT and WILL NOT drive to 82 Stratford Dr., but they will walk over to your house for a Watch Party.
As you name one, name that one to the One in prayer. As we say, before we talk to our friends about God, we talk to God about our friends. Get prayed up. Name your friend before God and then, GO TO THE OTHER SIDE. Jesus will join you, He’ll go with you and as you go, that feeling of fear and discomfort is what discipleship feels like. Welcome aboard.
