Thought Audit

I hope you had a great 4th of July weekend. On Mondays, I’m writing about anxiety. Why? As Pastor Tony Evans says: “What has your head has you!”

The saying “people don’t change” is often true but NOT because people can’t change...it’s because they CHOOSE NOT to change by the “renewing of their minds.”

The Apostle Paul writes: “but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. -Romans 12:2

If you want to live a different life, start thinking different thoughts

The toxic thinking (stinkin’ thinkin’, as my dad puts it) that was handed down to you, doesn't have to be handed down to your kids. It can stop with you. Why do I bring this up? Here’s why: science is now showing how thought patterns, whether healthy or unhealthy, are passed down to the 4th generation. Read that again.

Some of you were handed healthy thought patterns, and others not so much. The fear you constantly feel... the scarcity mindset you battle... the negative thinking... the lack of confidence... the worst case scenario or victim mindset you possess... those thought patterns likely possessed your parents as well. Your mindset may have been handed down to you, but it does not have to be handed down further.

It can stop now because there is a difference between predisposition and destiny.  God’s destiny for your life is not a toxic mind, it’s a transformed mind!  It’s a mind that is being renewed by God’s truth day in and day out.

Finally, brothers and sisters, fill your minds with beauty and truth. Meditate on whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is good, whatever is virtuous and praiseworthy.” -Philippians 4:8
