It won’t last

I recently taught my high school students how to fight and win against temptation. We went on a 3 mile RUCK and I brought two 35 pound kettlebells. Each guy was asked to carry those KB’s for 30 seconds at a time. After the 30 seconds were up they passed them to the next guy and so on. This cycle was repeated for an hour.

As we ate breakfast we debriefed and I went on to share with them what is called “urge surfing”. Temptation isn’t permanent, instead, it comes in waves. The temptation will NOT last for hours, but truth is, it will last for seconds.

The point? We walk in victory, 30 seconds at a time.

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

-1 Corinthians 10:13
