Lent Devotional • Day 16

Find today’s Contemplative Prayers HERE.

Prayer One: From John 17:11-23 Reading

Heavenly Father,

Thank you that you are my protector and my shield. Thank you that my life is hidden with Christ in God.

I ask that you would continue to protect me from the evil one, as I am in this world, and as I desire to live a life set apart for You And for Your glory. I look to you to continue to be my joy and I pray for my brothers and sisters in Christ that we would be one in faith and Jesus that we would be one with You as You and the Father are one. Amen.

Prayer Two: From Readings 1 Corinthians 1:18-31; Proverbs 8:1-11

Thank you Jesus that you are God incarnate that You were God made flesh, and that you chose to dwell among us. Thank you that you are and have been made for us the power of God, the wisdom of God, the holiness of God, the righteousness of God and the redemption of God.

As I fast this Lenten season, I pray that I may decrease so that you can increase. I need and want to live with more of Your Spirit in me ~ more of your wisdom, holiness, power, righteousness – living life in this world as Your daughter redeemed by your love and through your blood.

Help me to listen and obey the wisdom from Your word, and to continue to hunger for more of You. Thank You that Your wisdom is better than rubies. Help me to listen to Your voice, to Your warnings, and to Your guidance, and please give the strength and courage to live a life of obedience to You. Amen.

Prayer Three: From Readings John 3:1-21; I Corinthians 1:18-31

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your pursuing love ~ for loving us and the world and for sending Christ so that whoever believes would not perish, but have everlasting life.

I now lift up ______ (please fill in the name of the person that you’re asking God for their salvation in this space) and I pray that Youwould give him and give her the gift of faith to believe in and to surrender their lives to You, Jesus.

Father, You chose the weak things to confound the mighty and the foolish things to confound the wise. I pray that they would not lean on their own strength or on their own wisdom, but that they would open up their hearts to You to receive salvation and surrender their lives to Jesus. That they would look to Jesus and the power of the cross for their forgiveness and for a relationship with You.

I pray all of these things in the matchless name of Jesus, Amen .
