Which Wolf Will Win?

There is an old Cherokee Legend about Two Wolves. It goes something like this.

One evening, an old Cherokee man was teaching his grandson about a battle that goes on inside of people.

He said to the boy, “The battle is between two wolves within us all. One is evil – it is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, jealousy, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good – it is joy, peace, love, hope, patience, humility, kindness, goodness, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Which wolf are we feeding?

Are we daily being intentional to feed the Holy Spirit that has been given to us as a gift? We feed the Holy Spirit with truth, worship, community and connection with God’s people. We feed the Holy Spirit by having a YES ready in our hearts for whatever He is leading us or prompting us to do. We feed the Holy Spirit by magnifying the Son, Jesus Christ. We feed the Holy Spirit by engaging in spiritual practices, reading the Word of God and obeying the Word of God. Obedience feeds the Holy Spirit.

Which wolf are you feeding? Which wolf will win today?
